Permafrost Thaw, Alaska, Sights and Sound is an interdisciplinary piece connecting painting and sound to the exploration of thawing permafrost in the arctic circle.
A painting based on the rhythms and language of the sounds heard above and underground in the permafrost is coupled with the recording.
In collaboration with several research teams at the Toolik Field station in Alaska (2018, 2019, 2023) and the University of Alaska Fairbanks.
