The Underground Sound Project

2018-ongoing

‘The Underground Sound Project’ is a public art installation in Prospect Park, Brooklyn. The project can also be experienced remotely online.

The work explores and reveals the world of underground sound that can be heard under our feet. Did you know deep, resonant dramatic sound can be heard inside trees? Among the roots of plants, in shifting soils, in streambeds, rivers, oceans, and even in mud?

For this project 26 mini-videos revealing underground acoustics were recorded as part of the installation.

Created in collaboration with NYC Urban Field Station Collaborative Arts Program, USDA Forest Service, NYC Parks and The Nature of Cities.

Please use speakers or wear headphones for videos.
